| This collection of Old Home
Week badges and programs from 1905 to 1998 is courtesy of Kathleen "Katty"
White Grosh. The collection was given to Allison-Antrim Museum after the
1998 Old Home Week celebration. The museum considers it an honor to have
been given such a significant "piece" of Greencastle-Antrim's
history for safe keeping. Thank you Mrs. Grosh. |

"I
wish I could be there but my
sight is bad and I can't travel
anymore, and I can no longer
attend my 1930 class reunion.
I wish God's blessings on everyone.
God be with them." |

Mrs. Grosh was the Old Home Week registrar
from 1968 through 1992; and for many years prior to being named the
official registrar, she was the assistant to Registrar Jessie Shrader. |
It was during the 1992 OHW that she was, for the first
time, not able to be present every day at headquarters because of her
health and that of her husband. Mrs. Grosh's presence in the headquarters'
office was so predictable and constant over her many years as registrar
that her absence, by times in 1992, was quite noticeable. |
 |
The registering of visitors, selling of the
badges and programs, and Alumni Banquet ticket sales were not the only
responsibilities of the registrar. OHW visitors asked thousands of
questions over the years and Mrs. Grosh always knew the correct answer. |
I was able to speak to Mrs. Grosh by phone on
Saturday, July 28 at the Quincy Nursing Home where she now lives. She
turned 89 on July 19. I asked her if she had a greeting for the 2001 Old
Home Week visitors this year. Her reply, "I wish I could be there but
my sight is bad and I can't travel anymore, and I can no longer attend my
1930 class reunion. I wish God's blessings on everyone. God be with
them." She is grateful for all the people who are continuing the
triennial tradition and hopes the weather for all the events will be ok. |

Mrs. Grosh is still noticeably absent,
physically, but her spirit is ever present.
